    RESOUNDING HUACA is Manongo Mujica’s ambitious sound project to bring together a seven CD and two DVD production, in a unique packaging in the shape of a Huaca made out of fine wood. Part of what Mujica has produced in the last twenty years exploring sounds to invoke that ancestral and avantgarde is compiled here. Free improvisation, ritualism and exploration of jazz fusion.

    Note to deepen its significance.

    Huaca means sacred thing. A Huaca is an object, a phenomenon, a place or being in which the force of that which is sacred has concentrated.

    From his origins, man perceived whatever sacred in the landscape. Nothing is more evident in relationship with primitive religiousness than the cult to nature.

    Relevant places were the target. Caves, oasis, dunes, mountain tops, islands, woods and forests, deserts, stones, swamps, mountains exacerbated the emotionality of individuals.

    Terror, exaltation, lyricism, desolation, lucidity, mystery are sensations that were reflected on the landscape.

    Instructions to learn to listen to it

    1. Do not listen all the records one after the other
    2. Close your eyes
    3. Open your ears
    4. Relax
    5. Let yourself be permeated by the sound
    6. Choose a record for a moment of the day or night
    7. Preferably follow the sequence in which the records are presented
    8. Each day a new record as a new dawning
    9. Let the mind fly away to discover “soundscapes”
    10. Do not jump of the window after listening to each record
    11. Learn to feel the music
    12. To listen is always a new experience

    Notas para profundizar el significado de esta

    Huaca quiere decir cosa sagrada. La huaca es un objeto, fenómeno , lugar o ser En la cual se han concentrado las fuerzas de lo sagrado.
    Desde su origen, el hombre percibió lo sagrado en el paisaje. Nada resulta mas evidente respecto de la religiosidad primitiva que el culto a la naturaleza.
    Su objetivo en lugares relevantes. Cuevas, oasis, dunas, cimas, islas, bosques, desiertos, piedras, pantanos, montañas, exacerbaron la emotividad del individuo.
    Terror, exaltación, lirismo, desolación, lucidez, misterio, son sensaciones que se reflejaron en el paisaje.

CEREMONY FOR NO ONE

This is a piece for one individual where the musician records the entire possible gamut of his/her emotions within the range of percussion. This work is an experiential journal, translated into music. Originally conceived as a personal therapy to go beyond pain and transform it into a rebirth full of happiness.

The story behind this record is curious, originally ten pieces were recorded during five months and suddenly after an entire night of total listening to begin to glimpse the sequence of the pieces that would go to the final cut of the record, upon the next day a question mark appeared at the center of the screen of the laptop and from that point on the work disappeared totally.

Paradoxically my psychoanalyst made me see that my mood was disrupted because this episode represented symbolically the loss of a loss. And that is what it is, precisely.

This record is an experience to listen to percussion ritualistically. All the variations which I make with my own voice come from discovering the depth of the melody of the chants of the drums. The DVD version comes from the 3 shows I gave at the Teatro Britanico on July 2014. The record nevertheless differs from the live performance so that the listener has a different “take” and broadens his/her vision of the concept of a “CEREMONY FOR NO ONE”

In both cases I play instruments from different cultural traditions.

Instruments from India, Africa and Australia.

Este es un trabajo en solitario donde un músico graba toda la gama posible de sus emociones dentro del espectro de la percusión. Este trabajo es un diario vivencial,
traducido en música. Originalmente concebido como una terapia personal para traspasar el dolor y transformarlo en un renacer pleno de felicidad.
La historia de este disco es muy curiosa, originalmente se grabaron 10 temas durante 5 meses y de pronto después de una noche entera de escucha total para empezar a vislumbrar la secuencia de los temas que irían en la edición final del disco, al día siguiente, apareció un signo de interrogación en el centro de la pantalla de la laptop y a partir de allí, el material desapareció totalmente.
Paradójicamente mi psicoanalista me hizo ver que mi estado anímico se había trastocado porque este suceso, representaba simbólicamente, la pérdida de una pérdida. Y eso es, exactamente.
Este disco es una experiencia de escuchar a la percusión ritualmente. Todas las variaciones que hago con mi propia voz nacen de descubrir en profundidad las melodías de los cantos de los tambores. La versión del DVD corresponde a las 3 funciones que realice en el Teatro Británico en el mes de Julio del 2014. El disco sin embargo difiere del performance en vivo para que el oyente tenga otra escucha y amplíe su visión del concepto de “Ceremonia para nadie”.
En ambos casos utilizo instrumentos de diferentes tradiciones culturales.
